空鞍貫雙箭。
可憐馬上郎，
意氣今誰見。
近時主將戮，
中夜商於戰。

from the northeast

two arrows sticking up
from the empty saddle

and the rider
poor devil

who can tell 
his story now?

how his commander
was killed

how he kept fighting 
wounded, into the night

so many deaths have come
from this fighting
